Trent Holds Off Ottawa’s Late Comeback Atrempt

Trent opened the scoring with the only goal of the first quarter when Nick Fournier found the back of the net. The Excalibur built on that momentum in the second, getting two goals from Jaiden Maseko and one each from Mason Tardiff and Dallyn Rai. Julien Belair scored twice for Ottawa, but Trent carried a 5–2 lead into halftime.

The Gee-Gees made their push in the third quarter, with Hunter Lubiniecki and Belair bringing Ottawa within one. Tardiff answered with two late goals to complete his hat trick and give Trent a 7–4 lead. Lubiniecki scored twice in the fourth to make it 7–6 with 7:26 remaining, but Rai responded just 41 seconds later to secure the 8–6 victory. Tardiff led Trent with three goals, while Belair and Lubiniecki each recorded hat tricks for Ottawa.
