Renaud’s Double-Overtime Winner Lifts Queen’s Past Trent

Queen’s earned a thrilling 12–11 double-overtime victory over Trent on Thursday evening. The Excalibur opened a 4–1 lead in the first quarter behind two goals from Mason Tardiff and one each from Connor Curtis and Dallyn Rai. Queen’s answered in the second, outscoring Trent 5–1 behind a hat trick from Kai Faller to take a 6–5 advantage into halftime.


The teams continued to trade goals throughout the second half, entering the fourth quarter tied 9–9. Faller briefly gave Queen’s the lead before goals from Curtis and Rai put Trent back in front. Cam Milligan tied the game with 13:23 gone, sending the teams to overtime deadlocked at 11. After a scoreless opening overtime, Hunter Renaud scored the game-winner 1:12 into the second overtime. Faller and Tardiff led their respective teams with four goals each.
