Gryphons Put League on Notice, Ready to Defend Their Title

Guelph put together a dominant offensive performance to pick up a 13–3 win over McMaster.

The Marauders opened the scoring with a goal from Lincoln Gear, but the Gryphons quickly took control. Sam Savery tied the game before John Logue put Guelph in front, and Brandon Orr added two more as the Gryphons scored four straight to take a 4–1 lead. Guelph kept the offence rolling in the second quarter, adding five more goals to take a commanding advantage into halftime.

The Gryphons continued to control the game in the second half, with Logue and Mackay each completing hat tricks. McMaster got goals from Ryan Bellamy and Gear, but couldn't generate enough offence to make a comeback. Savery added his second of the game before Mackay closed out the scoring for Guelph.

Orr, Logue and Mackay each finished with three goals, while Savery added two in a balanced Gryphons attack. The game also became increasingly physical as it went on, with the teams combining for 16 penalties and 17 minutes in the box.

Guelph's offence and ability to maintain control throughout the game proved too much for the Marauders, as the Gryphons finished off the 13–3 victory.
