Ottawa Holds Off Furious Queen’s Comeback For 15–14 Victory

Ottawa overcame a strong opening half from Queen’s to earn a narrow 15–14 victory Saturday evening. Cam Milligan, Ryan Gonsalvez and Tanner Harrison scored the opening three goals to give the Gaels an early advantage. Hunter Lubiniecki answered with a first-quarter hat trick, while Julien Belair also scored as Ottawa cut the Queen’s lead to 5–4. The Gee-Gees took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Gaels 6–2 behind three goals from Elliot Malcolm and singles from Lubiniecki, Belair and Aidan Parker. Cam Milligan and Wyatt Groom replied for Queen’s, but Ottawa carried a 10–7 lead into halftime.

Ottawa outscored Queen’s 4–3 in the third quarter to extend its advantage to 14–10. Groom brought the Gaels within three at 3:57 of the fourth before Parker scored the eventual game-winner at 6:03. Queen’s refused to go quietly, receiving late goals from Heath Harker, Groom and Dean Fawthrop to cut the deficit to one, but the Gee-Gees held on. Lubiniecki led Ottawa with five goals, while Malcolm and Belair each had three. Milligan, Gonsalvez and Groom recorded hat tricks for Queen’s.
