More Than a Dozen CUFLA Players Selected in the A.L.L. Draft

Updated: Nov 25, 2024

More than a dozen Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association players were selected in the Arena Lacrosse League East draft on Saturday, November 8.

The Whitby Steelhawks led the way in mining CUFLA talent, taking a total of five CUFLA players. The Steelhawks started their dip into the CUFLA pool by taking Guelph Gryphons star attacker and 2024 CUFLA scoring champion Liam Aston 8th overall. The Ottawa native started last season with the Toronto Beaches. After being deemed ineligible to continue playing by the O.J.L.L., Aston joined the B.C.J.A.L.L.'s Nanaimo Timbermen for a pair of regular season games and their playoff run. In his Jr B days, Aston led the Nepean Knights in scoring for the 2023 season after helping them to win the Founders Cup the year before.

Whitby also selected current CUFLA players Cameron York (Carleton, 30th), Landon Sinfield (Ottawa, 48th) and Brendon Hoeschmann (Guelph, 56th). The Steelhawks also selected Western alumnus Keegan Croley, a Baggataway champion and All Baggataway team LSM.

Brock had the most players selected in the draft, with four. Trent had three players taken by A.L.L. teams. Two players were drafted from each of Guelph, Carleton and McGill. Ottawa and Queen's each had a player drafted, as well.
